Providing hope to the homeless population of Spokane.

Our Mission

“Through God and unconditional hope, we endeavor to reach, bless, and offer love to the homeless and less fortunate by restoring purpose and dignity to the hearts of the homeless in our community and the communities around the world ”  ( We are not a religious organization, we are proudly faith based. )

BUTB Portal

Today, technology is a daily part of how many of us communicate. It has become a tool that
so many take for granted. Yet, it’s become one of the best ways to help us become more
efficient and effective on so many levels. We rely on emails, search engines, social media, and the internet to be our guide and have an answer to every question we have or need
right away. It can also be a resourceful way to reconnect with friends and family.

Unfortunately, the homeless, our friends we serve every week, do not have easy access to
this tool that they may not know is available. Many may not truly understand or have the
knowledge to realize how beneficial this tool could be in order to help them through their
circumstances. The Blessings Portal, a first for Spokane under the bridge, would help so
many in various ways. And with your support, we want to help make a difference right where
they are. *Under the Bridge every week at our meal events. 6:00-8:30pm

Through onsite Bluetooth and WiFi

  •  Free access to 8 brand new computers, printers, and online tools for the homeless
    and low income.
  • This portal will be overseen by high school students, college students, and BUTB
    volunteers.
  • BUTB will provide assistance to help the following: job applications, filing for lost
docs such as social security cards, birth certificates, medical cards, medical results
    and other important records, etc.
  • BUTB would provide free print copies of specific items needed. Including mailing
    items if needed.
  • This portal would also allow them to create or check emails, connect, contact and
    reunite with loved ones.
  • BUTS will also help assist with many other needs and offering a ride variety of vital
    resources.

*  Each person, need and situation will vary

  1. By providing onsite technology (printers, computers, etc.) that will help those with filing,
printing and applying for crucial and vital documents, while many resources are closed
during the hours we are under the bridge. We believe we will have the opportunity to reach
many who will safely and humbly utilize these services, that are not often used or available
for the homeless population to access in the world they live in, and the conditions and
challenges they face on a daily basis. With the one on one support in a sacred place, this will
open the doors for many to walk through, move forward, feel productive and be successful.
  2. By providing onsite vital resources that include: housing, jobs, legal advice, mental and
behavioral health, information for low-income families and our cities youth, applying for
benefits, and receiving information on where to receive other basic needs such as food,
clothing, and shelter. This will provide immediate support, resources and the help so many
who struggle to overcome another day of hunger and personal battles. They will gain hope,
purpose, better health, healing, self-worth, pride, motivation and the hope they have longed
    for.
  3. The Blessings Portal will create many avenues for not only the homeless population and
those less fortunate but will help BUTS to build and form new partnerships with so many
amazing nonprofits in our community. This will help BUTS obtain more funding as the
community sees we are expanding our mission to help others.
BUTB has been excited about this project for some time. A first for Spokane. We now have the
basic foundation to begin the process and help those on a new and larger level. (Laptops
and mobile unit) We believe with the support of Numerica Credit union and the
Co-sponsorship of the Kalispel Tribe we can bring this to life this summer. We would like to
start the planning process as soon as possible and help make a difference in the community
on a caring and professional level.

BUTB&B

Blessings Under the Bridge (BUTB) is a nonprofit in Spokane, Washington that was founded in 2007 by
Jessica Kovac. Her heart was to bring help to the homeless through unconditional hope and love. Every
Wednesday, BUTB serves over 300 people along with 65 plus volunteers. They provide a ten-item cater
style menu with drinks, treats, groceries, clothing, hygiene items, medical care, and a wide variety of
resources. These resources are expanding toward what will be a first for Spokane with the “Blessings
Portal,” a mobile internet platform to help assist others on various levels: job search, applying for lost
documents, applying for certain benefits, and receive onsite access and vital info to other resources.
Blessings Portal will be rolling out late 2019. BUTB also holds the two largest specialty events in Spokane that take place in the summer and winter. Per event, these annual events serve and help over 1000 of Spokane’s most disfranchised, impoverished, and forgotten. Over the past 12 years, BUTB has served over 150,000 people, including families and children. Since inception, BUTB always looks outside the box and seek to help others regardless of the circumstance.

The journeys and stories of our homeless friends have been shared through People Magazine, the
Rachael Ray Show, TED Talks, the Lifetime Channel, and many other platforms.

Over the years, BUTB has been “Beyond Blessed” by the amazing and giving people in Spokane and even across the country. Because of the support they have received, BUTB is ready to extend those blessings around Spokane when they are able. They are taking a step beyond the bridge to do even more to extend and expand their blessings. BUTB has initiated a new heartfelt program to reach beyond our bridge: “Blessings Under the Bridge and Beyond”!

The mission is to provide a pantry within various low-income area schools, with tangible items to the less fortunate children and today’s youth that attend school in the Central Valley School District. These items range from things that so many of us take for granted: food, clothing, shoes, drinks, school supplies, and so much more. We believe there is a higher need being hidden behind the walls of our community’s homes where many children who are facing the stress of hunger, lack of love, neglect, abuse, financial burden, shame, bullying, and self-esteem are left to rely on their resiliency. We know it is a solid and honest fact that these added struggles have a profound effect on one’s ability to learn, focus, and concentrate.

Soda Pop’s Memorial

As I laid my head to rest after a long day prepping for the feed and Sodas memorial I thought to myself why do we do what we do? As I sat next to Clay on the concrete with Sodas friends I could smell urine, alcohol, and sweat. But in that moment I realized it was a...

Memorial for a Beautiful Soul

Carrol Ann is remembered for her smile. Her life radiated joy that never seemed to fit her circumstances. Every time I saw her, she beamed a smile that started in her eyes and radiated out to the edges of her face. I didn't know her well, but she touched me. Her...
